According to reports in Spain, Newcastle United are showing interest in Villarreal stopper Filip Jorgensen, while Valencia are demanding €40m (£34m) for Giorgi Marmadashvili.
Relevo have revealed that Newcastle are one of three Premier League sides who’ve joined the race for Jorgensen, reporting that ourselves, Chelsea and Wolves are all keen on the 22-year-old after his impressive breakthrough season in La Liga.
Elsewhere, fellow Spanish outlet Marca claim that Valencia owner Peter Lim is refusing to sell Marmadashvili on the cheap following serious interest from Newcastle.
As things stand, it seems Newcastle are reluctant to pay £34m for the 23-year-ol Georgian, which may explain links to Burnley’s James Trafford. On the subject of cheaper alternatives to Marmadashvili, Relevo add that Newcastle are aware of Jorgensen’s €40m release clause but believe the Danish youth international could leave for half that price.
Whatever happens, it seems clear Eddie Howe is keen to bring in a young goalkeeper able to compete with Nick Pope for the No 1 jersey as Loris Karius and Martin Dubravka look increasingly likely to leave this summer.
#Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen is on the radar of #NUFC, according to Relevo.
