According to The Mirror, Arsenal look to have pipped Newcastle to the signing of RB Leipzig star striker Benjamin Sesko who is available for around £45m this summer.
As stated in the report, Sesko is keen on a move to the Premier League with Man United and Chelsea also chasing his signature, but he would favour moving to Arsenal over any other option.
Given his talent and potential, it would be difficult to see him competing with Alexander Isak for a place in our starting 11, especially with no European football on offer, but it would have been an exceptional transfer.
Arsenal can promise more regular first-team football to the 6ft 5 striker given their lack of natural strikers, so it’s easy to see why he would be tempted to a move to the Emirates. There’s some good news, however, as a big-money move for Sesko suggests the Gunners won’t push to sign Isak this summer.
It may be a blow for Newcastle to have one of their targets crossed off the list, but I’m sure we have plenty others irons in the fire should Callum Wilson leave.
