Five player Barcelona must sign to compete on Champions League level

Barcelona are set to shine in the UEFA Champions League next season, after securing a second-place finish with Xavi at the helm.

The city will continue to enjoy the glittering European nights, but the club is facing multiple challenges including financial management, salary cap rules, and player transfers.

It is clear that the club is not ruling out major sales, but any moves in the transfer market will be made with Hansi Flick’s input.

Interestingly, Flick has already given a list of players he believes should stay under his management. He understands that, given the number of matches Barcelona will play next season, the roster needs to be expanded.

However, expanding the squad does not mean signing players indiscriminately. Instead, Barcelona must carefully consider the squad dynamics to determine who can best fit under Flick’s management.

One of the most pressing needs for Barcelona is signing a new pivot as the team is still feeling the absence of Sergio Busquets. In this regard, Barcelona have been contemplating reigniting their interest in Everton’s Amadou Onana.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been on Barcelona’s radar for a while, and now might be the perfect time to pursue him. Everton are struggling with Financial Fair Play issues and may need to sell key players at a lower cost.

This presents an opportunity for Barcelona to capitalize on. Although there will be competition for his signature, hope remains a driving force for Barcelona.
