Enzo Maresca is expected to be announced as Chelsea’s new head coach today.
The appointment will end the club’s search for a successor to Mauricio Pochettino, who left by mutual consent on May 21.
Chelsea held talks with other candidates, including Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna, but were sold on Maresca due to his impressive record at Leicester, whom he led led out of the Championship at the first time of asking, and his background of working with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
The Blues have noted how another Guardiola disciple, Mikel Arteta, has flourished at Arsenal.

Maresca, 44, is unlikely to find it easy at Stamford Bridge, however, with reports suggesting the players are unhappy at the departure of the popular Pochettino with the team starting to gel as the season progressed.
Chelsea won their last five games in the Premier League to finish sixth and secure a place in the Europa Conference League.
Maresca is set to sign a five-year deal in west London with the club having an option for a sixth. Leicester will receive nearly £10million in compensation.
