La Liga club contact Barcelona over summer move for La Masia graduate

Ansu Fati is set to return to FC Barcelona this summer after an unsuccessful loan stint at Brighton & Hove Albion.

Having fallen down the pecking order under former manager Xavi Hernandez, Fati was shipped off to the Premier League last summer.

But the Spaniard failed to make the most of is time in England and returns to his boyhood club, hoping to turn his fortunes around under the new management of Hansi Flick.

While Fati’s aim is to stay and succeed at Barcelona, the club do not necessarily see things the same way as they need to offload players to lighten their wage bill.

Sevilla in contact with Barcelona

As has already been reported, Sevilla are one of the clubs interested in signing Ansu Fati on loan from Barcelona in the summer.

Building on that SPORT’s Toni Juanmarti reports that Los Nervionenses have already called Barça in order to explore the possibility of a transfer.

Even though it has been suggested that Flick might give Ansu a chance in the pre-season, the possibility of the young Spaniard having a spot in the squad appears miniscule.

Amidst this, Sevilla are eager to land him on loan with their interest only growing after former Barça B coach, Garcia Pimienta, became their new manager.

Pimienta is an admirer of Fati’s talents and would welcome the opportunity to work with him at Sevilla. Furthermore, the Barça youngster’s father, Bori Fati, is also urging him to consider a move to Andalusia.

Salary could be an issue

As such, Sevilla’s director Victor Orta has already contacted Barcelona to let the Catalans know of their interest in signing Ansu Fati on loan.

The Spanish ace, for his part, is very much aware that Los Nervionenses are ‘crazy’ to sign him, but wishes to do pre-season under Flick before deciding on his future.
