Alan Pardew linked with shock return to English football alongside two former Mags

According to reports, Alan Pardew has emerged as a surprise contender for the vacant manager’s job at Burnley.

The Sun report that the Clarets have ‘made contact’ with the former Newcastle United boss in their search to replace Vincent Kompany, who got the job at Bayern Munich despite Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League.

It’s believed the 62-year-old is looking to get back into English football and is attracted by the challenge of getting Burnley back into the top flight after a tough 2023/24 season.

The bookies have former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard as the favourite to take over at Turf Moor, but it’s interesting to see ex-Newcastle striker Craig Bellamy – who was on the coaching staff with Vincent Kompany – and former Toon midfielder Scott Parker also high up on the bookies odds.

Pardew’s last job was with Greek Super League club Aris Thessaloniki, who he left last February, while he’s also had spells at ADO Den Haag and CSKA Sofia since a disappointing spell at West Brom back in 2018.
