With the 2023/24 campaign officially coming to an end, Barcelona have kickstart their preparations for the season ahead.
One of the club’s priorities is to bring in attacking reinforcements, with Xavi Simons emerging as one of the potential targets.
The former La Masia starlet has enjoyed a terrific season on loan at RB Leipzig and is now courted by a series of top clubs across Europe. Barcelona have emerged as one of the potential suitors, with the player himself keen on a move to Camp Nou.
Bayern Munich join the race
However, in a big blow for Barcelona, it appears Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign Xavi Simons in the coming summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Bavarians are interested in the services of the young attacker, who is set to return to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
While PSG have no intention of selling their star player, the idea of a loan deal has been tabled. Bayern, for their part, are open to a loan deal for Simons.
Bayern are not alone in the chase either, with even RB Leipzig keen on retaining the services of the Dutchman.

Decision to be made after Euro 2024
Fabrizio Romano adds that Xavi Simons is biding his time and does not want to rush to a decision.
It was earlier reported that a decision could be made before the European Championship. But that plan has been postponed, with Romano suggesting that a decision may only come after a few weeks.
Dutch journalist Rik Elfrink suggests Xavi Simons will only make a decision on his future after the European Championship, where he will play a key role for the Netherlands.
In the Dutch squad, Simons will notably share the pitch alongside Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong, though the midfielder is facing a race against time to get fit before the opener on June 16.
