Steve Bruce puts himself forward for Premier League job live on talkSPORT

Steve Bruce has confirmed he is eyeing a return to management and would be interested in taking the vacant Leicester City job following Enzo Maresca’s move to Chelsea.

Speaking on talkSPORT today, the former Newcastle United boss insisted that a chance to manage the Foxes is a “wonderful opportunity”, even if they start the 2024/25 Premier League season with minus points after breaching Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Bruce hasn’t been in work since leaving West Brom 22nd in the Championship at the end of 2022, but feels he’s ready to return after a year off.

“A points deduction wouldn’t put me off,” Bruce told talkSPORT. “Leicester, you know where I am! I mean, what a wonderful opportunity that is all of a sudden.

“You know, they might have a few problems, but Leicester has been a great club over the past few years, of course the fairy tale of winning the Premier League a few years ago.

“I’m looking to do something. I mean I’ve had a year off now. Either management, or working alongside somebody. Or I’d like to think if a chairman asked me a question on football, I’d like to give him an answer.

“I’ve been in [football] a long time. But I’ve had a long winter in this country without work and so to do something is the next step.”

Don’t hold your breath, Steve!
