Barcelona academy graduate’s market value rises by 100 times in a year

While Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi have dominated the headlines after enjoying a sensational breakthrough season at FC Barcelona, Fermin Lopez has gone a little under the radar.

But the 21-year-old midfielder has enjoyed an equally special breakout campaign with Barça.

From having been on loan in the third division last season to scoring against the likes of Real Madrid in La Liga and making it to the Spain squad for the UEFA Euro 2024, Fermin has gone through a rapid rise in stature.

Fermin Lopez’s market value shoots through the roof

It is not only Fermin’s stature that has risen, but his market value has also gone through the roof over the past year.

Indeed, as per data from Transfermarkt, the 21-year-old Barcelona wonderkid’s market value stood at just €300,000 less than a year ago in July 2023.

Now, though, the valuation has shot up by a massive 100 times and has risen to €30 million as per the latest update.

The meteoric rise in Fermin’s market value is reflective of the season he has had at Barcelona as he finished with a tally of 11 goals and an assist from 42 senior appearances across all competitions.

Making his debut for Spain in a friendly against Andorra earlier this week, the youngster made a big impression, registering an assist in the 5-0 win.

Fermin signed a new contract with Barcelona until the summer of 2027 with a release clause worth €400 million. And it is not ruled out that the Catalans hand him an improved deal in the near future to reflect his growth over the past year.
