With Barcelona in the market for a new left-winger heading into the summer, the name of Napoli speedster Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been touted as an option.
Even though players like Nico Williams and Luis Diaz appear to be higher on the wishlist, Kvaratskhelia’s name has been associated with Barcelona.
The Georgian winger has a lot of admirers at the Catalan outfit, with the club even getting a close look at him during the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League this past season.
Recent reports, however, had suggested that PSG had also entered the race for the Napoli ace and were in a better position than Barcelona to sign him up.
Kvaratskhelia set to renew with Napoli
However, now, there appears to be a major twist in the tale as Kvaratskhelia appears set to snub both Barcelona and PSG and continue with Napoli.
Indeed, as per Gazzetta dello Sport, Kvaratskhelia and Napoli are close to finalising a contract renewal agreement, leaving his suitors in a lurch.

Napoli had always been eager to tie the winger down to a new contract as they do not wish to lose both him and Victor Osimhen in the same window. But an agreement had been difficult to achieve.
The Partenopei have already sent a contract offer that would see Kvaratskhelia commit to the club until 2028 while seeing his wages rise from €1.5 million per year to €4 million per year.
The Georgian international, however, has been holding out for a salary of €5 million, leading to talks slowing down. And it now appears that the club are ready to soften their stance and get closer to meeting the player’s demands.
Napoli will also likely insert a high release clause in the contract, which would ensure that Barcelona will not be in a position to go after him for now.
As mentioned earlier, though, the likes of Luis Diaz and Nico Williams are ahead of Kvaratskhelia on the list of targets.
