Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has confirmed that Newcastle United have launched a bid in the region of £15m for James Trafford – but Burnley are ‘likely’ to turn it down our opening offer.
On Yankuba Minteh, Downie also reveals that Newcastle are likely to ‘reluctantly cash in’ on the 19-year-ol winger is a ‘sizeable bid’ comes our way following growing interest from clubs on the continent, confirming Luke Edwards’ report for The Telegraph last night.
Back to Trafford, it was The Mail who were first to news of our bid, with Craig Hope reporting that we’ve launched a £16m offer for the 21-year-old goalkeeper.
Sky Sports seem to think our bid is closer to the £15m mark and claim talks are ongoing, but it sounds like Burnley will reject that approach, with the Championship side demanding around £20m for the England talent.
Here’s what Downie had to say on Trafford and Minteh in an update on Twitter/X for Sky Sports:

Minteh has yet to play a first-team game for Newcastle.’
