Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal is set to be a standout player for the Spanish national team at Euro 2024.
At only 16 years old, he has already made a significant impact in the sport as during the 2023/24 season, he scored seven goals and provided ten assists, making him a key player for Barcelona.
Yamal’s talent and potential have already earned him several records, including being the youngest player to score in a European Championship qualifier.
As Euro 2024 approaches, Yamal has the opportunity to break even more records and here are a few milestones he could achieve:
The youngest participant
Currently, the youngest player to have ever participated in the Euros is Poland’s Kacper Kozlowski. Kozlowski played in Euro 2021 at the age of 17 years and 246 days.
Yamal has a chance to break this record as Spain’s first match is against Croatia on June 15.
Yamal will still be 16 years old at that time, making him potentially the youngest player to ever participate in the tournament.
The youngest scorer
In October 2023, Yamal became the youngest player to score for Barcelona at 16 years and two months old.

The current record is held by Switzerland’s Johann Vonlanthen, who was 18 years and 140 days old when he scored in Euro 2004. If Yamal scores, he will surpass this record by a significant margin.
The youngest finalist
If Spain reach the final and Yamal plays, he could become the youngest player to ever play in a Euro final.
Yamal will turn 17 just a day before the final, which means he will still be younger than the current record holder, Portugal’s Renato Sanches, who was 18 years and 11 months old when he played in the Euro 2016 final.

Should Spain make it to the final and Yamal scores, he could become the youngest…
