Newcastle linked with England U21 winger and former Arsenal talent

According to the Italian press, Newcastle United are showing interest in Juventus talent Samuel Iling-Junior and Lazio midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

Starting with Iling-Junior, TuttoJuve reveal that the Serie A giants plan to cash in on the England U21 winger to help ease their financial issues, with Newcastle and Spurs both keen on the 20-year-old; thought to be available for £13m .

The tall wide man started in Chelsea’s Academy before leaving for Italy at the age of 16. He’s made 45 appearances for Juventus, featuring several times in Europe, but he’s often played on the left; where we have plenty of options in Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes.

La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the Guendouzi is tempted by a return to the Premier League five years after leaving Arsenal and has received interest from Aston Villa and Newcastle.

Personally, I’d be surprised if we pursued Guendouzi. The 25-year-old has talent, but his attitude was questioned following a fallout with Mikel Arteta and he’s never been far from drama during spells in France (Marseille) and Italy. Not only that, are we really going to spend a chunk of our summer budget on another midfielder?
