If reports on Merseyside are to be believed, Liverpool are NOT planning a summer move for Newcastle United talent Yankuba Minteh.
Over the weekend, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards reported that new boss Arne Slot was plotting a move for the 19-year-old talent who he worked with at Feyenoord, with Newcastle ‘reluctantly considering’ the Gambian’s sale to help us comply with PSR.
However, Ian Doyle – the Chief reporter for the Liverpool Echo – insists that the Reds ‘have no current interest in making a move for Minteh’, despite Slot’s ‘admiration’ of the exciting young winger.
This doesn’t rule out Minteh’s sale, as Sky Sports’ Keith Downie also revealed on Saturday that the teenager could be sold for FFP reasons if a good offer arrived, but it’s encouraging to here we won’t be going to Anfield.
After all, it would be bad enough to lose a big talent who hasn’t even kicked a ball for Newcastle yet, but even worse to see him join a ‘big six’ Premier League side we’re looking to compete with over the coming seasons.
