We are now into another summer transfer window and we all know that Chelsea are going to be quite busy in the market buying and selling.
The squad being setup is a good one, but for me it lacks proven quality experience. I’m not meaning just any old experience, I mean QUALITY experience and established players.
I truly believe if we add one or two more proven players to this squad then it would really help elevate and push the team forward into next season so they can challenge at the top again.
We have lost Thiago Silva, who is a player I would put under that category. So for me, I’d be looking to go and replace him this summer, which is not an easy task.
But when you are looking at players to directly replace Silva, you quite simply must be looking at either Mats Hummels or Sergio Ramos – both players are free agents this summer, and both would bring you quality experience even if you just get them in on a 1-year-contract.
Ramos has been there and see it all and played for the best club in the world at that time. Hummels is just an incredible player too and still has so much to offer.
Ramos is now 38-years-old, which is just two years older than Silva was when we signed him, and then look what happened he went and became one of our most important players for the next four seasons.
Hummels would be a smarter move though, being only 35-years-old and having so much to offer. Both players do if you ask me.
I just think it would be really smart to go for one of the two aforementioned players. They could bring quality experience and all important leadership to a very young and inexperienced group.
