Report: AC Milan reject transfer offers for Yunus Musah

Yunus Musah’s positive first season in Milan led to growing interest in his signature this summer, but new Rossoneri boss Paulo Fonseca isn’t reportedly listening to any offers for the American midfielder.

AC Milan has turned down several European offers for Musah this summer, Tuttosport reported Tuesday. Fonseca is set to use Musah in a more defensive role this season after arriving in Milan earlier this month, according to the report.

Musah, 21, made the move to AC Milan last summer from Liga MX side Valencia. He made 40 combined appearances in his debut Italian campaign, registering two assists, and featuring in four different competitions.

A former Arsenal academy player, Musah moved to Valencia’s B team in 2019 before debuting for the first team in September 2020. Musah proceeded to score five goals in 108 combined appearances for the La Liga side, eventually attracting interest from many European clubs including AC Milan.

He’s been a key figure for the U.S. men’s national team since switching his allegiance from England. Musah has earned 37 caps to date for the USMNT, featuring at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and winning the CONCACAF Nations League title on three occasions.

Fonseca replaces Stefano Pioli, who led the Rossoneri to a second-place finish in Serie A last season.
