Newcastle move ‘very unlikely’ as Liverpool join race for £60m target – Report

According to reports this afternoon, Liverpool have now joined the race to sign Newcastle United target Michael Olise.

In an exclusive from Jacque Talbot at FootballTransfers, it’s revealed that Liverpool are in the market for a new right-winger and keen to bring in a successor to Mohammed Salah, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield.

Talbot reports that Chelsea, Man Utd and Newcastle are all keen on Olise – who has a £60m release clause in his Palace contract – but it’s his information that the 22-year-old is hoping to play Champions League football next season.

He adds that the Eagles star is a boyhood Man Utd fan but is aware a move to Chelsea offers him the chance to stay in London. Alternatively, Liverpool could offer him an immediate route to Champions League football, although Salah’s presence means starts may not be guaranteed under Arne Slot this coming season.

With European football not currently on offer at St James’ Park and a move to the North East forcing him to relocate from London, FootballTransfer believe this is a ‘hugely tricky’ deal for Newcastle to pull off and ‘very unlikely’ at this stage.
