Early team news from England camp as Southgate makes big call ahead of Denmark clash

Early team news from England camp as Southgate makes big call ahead of Denmark clash

According to The Mail’s chief reporter Sami Mokbel, Gareth Southgate is set to name an unchanged line-up ahead of today’s 5pm clash with Denmark.

There had been calls to start Anthony Gordon on the left after Phil Foden’s poor display in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Serbia, while others felt Trent Alexander-Arnold didn’t look comfortable in a midfield role alongside Declan Rice.

However, The Mail report that Southgate looks set to stick by the same 11, with Kieran Trippier continuing at left-back after Luke Shaw was ruled out once again after failing to train.

Expected England XI: Pickford – Walker, Stones, Guehi, Trippier – Rice, Alexander-Arnold – Saka, Bellingham, Foden – Kane.

Win and England will secure a place in the last 16, but it won’t be easy against Denmark; a good side but one who kicked off the tournament with a 1-1 draw against Slovenia last week.

The big issue on Sunday was our lack of width down the left and the congestion in central areas, with Foden’s tendency to come inside seeing him take up space Bellingham was looking to exploit.
