€35m centre-back with same agent as Sandro Tonali linked with Newcastle move

According to Italian outlet Corrriere dello Sport, Newcastle United are exploring a move for Alessandro Buongiorno; the Torino defender represented by the same agent as Sandro Tonali.

The centre-back made 29 appearances last season for the Serie A club – who finished ninth last season – and has received serious interest from Napoli.

The report claims Newcastle have been in contact with Torino to discuss their demands, but it seems the 25-year-old won’t be leaving on the cheap after Napoli failed with a bid worth €35m including bonuses.

With Napoli pushing hard and Torino attempting to get the best price out of their Italian rivals, it does make you wonder if Newcastle’s name has been thrown into the mix in a bid to drive up his price? 

Yes we are in the market for another centre-back this summer and there’s been links to Buongiorno earlier this year, but he is a left-footed centre-back like Lloyd Kelly, not a right-sided option likely to be an alternative to Tosin Adarabioyo. 

Tonali and his agent may love to have him on Tyneside, but I’m not so sure on this one now Kelly has signed.
