According to Sky Sports in Italy, Roma have joined the race to sign Newcastle United winger Yankuna Minteh.
Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Roma boss Daniele De Rossi wants to bolster their attack this summer and is keen on the 19-year-old, but reveals that Everton and Marseille are also showing serious interest.
The same piece states that Newcastle have set a price tag at ‘around €30m’ (£25m) for the Gambian, which would see us make just less under £20m on the winger who arrived from Danish side Odense for £6m last summer.
As for the fourth club thought to be keen on Minteh, Sky Germany revealed earlier this week that Borussia Dortmund are also eyeing up the teenager, who bagged 11 goals and six assists in 37 appearances for Feyenoord last season.
Personally, I’d find it a real shame if we cashed in before he’s even kicked a ball for the club. Yes, sales may be needed to help us comply with PSR rules, but is a quick profit on Minteh might feel like a short-term gain for long-term pain if he reaches his undoubted potential elsewhere.
