England will look to round off their Group C fixtures at Euro 2024 with a morale-boosting win over Slovenia in Cologne.

Gareth Southgate’s men may have taken four points from their first two pool games but the level of performance – notably in the 1-1 draw with Denmark on Tuesday – has led to a wave of criticism from pundits and ex-players.

Midfielder Declan Rice says he is not concerned and would rather focus on the positives.

He said: “We’re top of the group, we need to stay positive, stay upbeat. Let’s have some positivity going into games. Let’s give players the best confidence in the world. Players like Phil Foden, Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, tell them they’re the best players in the world. Make them read that and think ‘I’m going to go out there and perform and give it absolutely everything.’”

Southgate is likely to change the shape of his side after it lacked any penetration down the left flank against Denmark. The experiment which has seen right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold line up in midfield is also set to be ditched.

Slovenia have picked up two draws in their first two games and know a win would be enough to take them through. Another point may even be sufficient for them to advance as one of the best third-placed finishers.
