As reported by The Athletic, former Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko is in talks with Watford over a potential return to England as he prepares to leave Nantes at the end of his contract.
The Frenchman is due to become available on a free transfer and is currently weighing up his options, but it is his former teammate Tom Cleverley who could be interested in bringing him back to Vicarage Road.
Since leaving Newcastle in 2016, Sissoko has gone on to have a solid career, playing in a Champions League final with Tottenham and making 71 appearances for his country, though he never did get his hands on some silverware.
Many Newcastle fans have mixed feelings about his time in the North East, but he was a powerhouse midfielder who was brilliant on his day – we just didn’t see what he was capable of on a consistent basis.
Sissoko clearly feels he still has something to offer and could be solid purchase for Watford, adding some experience to their squad for what will no doubt be another testing season in the Championship.
