Yankuba Minteh update – Two Premier League clubs now in contact with Newcastle

According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton and Brighton are now competing for the signature of Yankuba Minteh as Newcastle push to secure a sale over the next 48 hours.

It emerged earlier today that Everton have reignited their interest after talks cooled earlier this week, but Romano reveals that Brighton have also been in contact with Newcastle to explore the terms of any deal.

It’s believed that Minteh’s top priority is to remain in the Premier League, which explains why his proposed move to Lyon has not gone through despite the Ligue 1 side offering the ‘best proposal’ to Newcastle.

With the PSR deadline coming at the close of play on Sunday 30th June, Newcastle are attempting to raise funds to avoid any breach of financial rules. It’s reported that we are £30m away from complying, highlighting our need to sell.

Romano states that Newcastle and Minteh himself remain in contact and are due to make a decision ‘soon’ on his future, with Lyon’s offer on the table but a Premier League stay his preference as Everton and Brighton show interest.

Others to watch out for could include Roma and Borussia Dortmund – two clubs linked in recent weeks via Sky Italy and Sky Germany – but those links have gone quiet as we approach June’s mini-deadline on Sunday.

🚨 Yankuba Minteh keeps giving priority to Premier League move as Everton are still interested while Brighton also asked for deal conditions earlier this week.

Olympique Lyon sent best proposal to Newcastle but no green light from player side, as of now.
