Tournament hosts Germany will continue their pursuit of the European Championships title when they face Denmark in the first knockout stage.
It hasn’t been plain sailing for Germany so far, though they did top Group A to reach this stage. Denmark, meanwhile, finished second in Group C.
Germany current form
Germany put the tournament on notice in the opening game when they destroyed lowly Scotland 5-1 at the Allianz Arena. Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz, Niclas Fullkrug and Emre Can all scored in that one.
They followed that with a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Hungary, with Musiala getting his second goal of the tournament.
As for the third match, the hosts were lucky to escape with a draw as Switzerland led for the majority of the game before Fullkrug scored in injury time to earn a 1-1 draw and the top spot in the group.
Denmark current form
Unfortunately for Denmark, they have been labelled as one of the more boring sides in the tournament so far as they have reached the last 16 thanks to three consecutive draws against Serbia, England and Slovenia.
They have scored two goals and conceded two goals at the Euros. Still, they have proven to be a tough nut to crack so the Germans will have to improve drastically from the Switzerland game to progress in 90 minutes.
There are concerns over the fitness of Antonio Rudiger as the Real Madrid defender sat on the floor in pain following the Switzerland draw. It was subsequently confirmed that he is suffering from a thigh problem, so it will be up to Julian Nagelsmann whether he will be risked or not. Crucially, he completed full training on Friday.
Jonathan Tah is suspended for Germany, so Nico Schlotterbeck will come into the backline.
Nagelsmann has named the same starting XI for every game so far, and it will likely be the same for this one with the exception of Tah.
