Barcelona working to renew 16-year-old La Masia jewel, contract expires on June 30

Barcelona have closed contract renewals with several of their young players in recent weeks. The likes of Hector Fort, Pau Cubarsi, and Marc Casado are the most notable names to have penned new deals.

Furthermore, Marc Bernal has reached a total agreement over an extension and is set to sign imminently while talks are ongoing with Unai Hernandez for a new deal.

But Barcelona have one more special talent who they are eager to tie down to a new contract at the earliest possible – Guille Fernandez.

Barcelona working with Jorge Mendes to renew

Tipped as the most exciting young player coming through La Masia after Lamine Yamal, Guille Fernandez is a special talent but his contract with Barcelona expires on June 30.

As such, SPORT reports that Barcelona are working with superagent Jorge Mendes to complete an agreement over the youngster’s new contract.

Guille, who turned 16 recently, has already broken a record that Yamal had set in the 2022/23 season by becoming the youngest-ever player to debut for Barça Atletic at the age of 15 years 9 months and 13 days.

The youngster went on to make eight appearances for Rafa Marquez’s side, even registering an assist.

Tipped for a bright future in the game, Barcelona are very much eager to ensure that the youngster continues his development at the club and will hope to finalise an agreement with the player soon.

The good news is that Guille’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has a very good relationship with Barcelona president Joan Laporta and played a key role in the renewal of Lamine Yamal last year.

As such, the Catalans will be hoping for another swift resolution as far as the contract of young Guille Fernandez is concerned.
