July 2 – Liverpool have expressed interest in buying England international Anthony Gordon, but Newcastle insist the 23-year-old England winger will not be sold.
The financial pressure on the magpies has been lifted by the £75 million raised from the sales of Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson – deals whose price tags have raised more than a few eyebrows – meaning that Liverpool have lost the FFP leverage they had earlier in the negotiation as Newcastle looked for ways to bring their accounts within the regulation.
Gordon (pictured), formerly of Everton, is reportedly keen on a return to Merseyside though there are also reports Liverpool backed away from a deal that would have seen them send Jarell Quansah in the opposite direction.
LOSC defender Leny Yoro, 18, is being eyed by Real Madrid, with Liverpool and Manchester United also interested as they look to develop defensively this window.
Despite not fitting into either team’s transfer strategy, the young Frenchman is deemed too good to miss out on. He enjoyed a head-turning season in Ligue1 last term which has earned him admirers across the continent. Physically dominant and technically superb, the 2005-born defender has become one of the most in-demand assets in European football.
Liverpool and AC Milan are interested in signing France midfielder Adrien Rabiot following the expiration of the 29-year-old’s Juventus contract. The player has a market value of €35 million according to Transfermarkt, making him the most valuable free agent in Europe.
A move for Rabiot would not be as simple as it might seem due to his agent (and mother) being notoriously difficult to negotiate with.
