Barcelona do not see 29-year-old free agent as priority after being offered by agent

Journalist Alex Pintanel has confirmed that Barcelona have recently added Adrien Rabiot to their list of potential midfield reinforcements. 

As Barcelona seek to strengthen their squad, they are seriously considering Rabiot, who is likely to end his tenure at Juventus as his contract has ended. As a result, multiple media sources have reported that Rabiot has been offered to Barcelona. 

Despite this, the club has not made Rabiot a top priority. They did contact Rabiot’s mother, who also serves as his agent, but any meeting between the two parties is expected to be delayed.

Barcelona do want a pivot

Barcelona’s hunt for a new pivot midfielder this summer is no secret. They have been linked with several top names such as Amadou Onana, Mikel Merino and Joshua Kimmich. 

However, Barcelona are still grappling with financial difficulties and cannot afford to spend lavishly on new signings. This financial constraint has led them to consider the free-agent market once again, making Rabiot a viable option.

Despite being a free agent, Rabiot’s wage demands pose a significant challenge. He is seeking a salary of €8 million per year. 

Given Barcelona’s ongoing financial struggles and their limited salary cap, it remains uncertain whether they can meet these demands. The club must carefully evaluate if they can accommodate Rabiot’s salary within their budget.

Barcelona have other priorities 

Barcelona’s primary focus is on signing Kimmich. The German international is reportedly on good terms with Hansi Flick, which could facilitate his move from Bayern Munich. 

If Barcelona manages to secure Kimmich, it would be a significant boost for the team. The club is exploring all possible avenues to make this transfer happen.
