Mamadou Mbacke and Pau Victor were two players who said their goodbyes to Barcelona at the end of June after their loan deals came to an end.
The duo had become key members of Rafa Marquez’s Barça Atletic last season and played an important role – so much so that the club has been working on signing them permanently.
Efforts are being made to bring Victor back from Girona while things appear to be much more forward as far as Mbacke’s case is concerned.
Barcelona reach agreement LAFC for Mbacke
Indeed, according to SPORT’s Toni Juanmarti, Barcelona have reached a total agreement with Los Angeles FC for the permanent signing of Mamadou Mbacke.
As per the report, the Blaugrana will re-sign the 21-year-old defensive ace for a fee of €2 million, with the MLS club retaining a future sell-on percentage for the player.
An agreement is almost final and signing it remains the only formality at this stage.
Mbacke’s loan deal with Barcelona had a buy clause worth €4 million which the club opted not to activate and instead entered into negotiations with LAFC. And, things have worked out positively for the team.
At times it felt like Mbacke’s time at Barça was completely over, but with the club missing out on Jorthy Mokio’s signing and Mika Faye set to be promoted to the senior team, the Catalans decided to re-sign him.
Mbacke is currently sidelined with an injury after undergoing surgery for an ankle issue in the final phase of the season and is expected back only in September.
The 21-year-old will be a part of the Barça Atletic setup again next season while it is not entirely ruled out that the Catalans sell him this summer itself if a lucrative offer came along.
