Oriol Romeu is pretty much guaranteed to leave FC Barcelona this summer, after having fallen down the pecking order at the club.
The veteran Spaniard arrived at Barça only last summer in a deal worth around €3-4 million from Catalan rivals Girona.
After a bright start to his second spell with the Blaugrana, Romeu endured a steep decline in his form and hardly featured during the second half of the season.
Given his situation and the club’s pursuit of another defensive midfielder, the former Chelsea man’s exit is all but confirmed, with Girona keen on re-signing him.
Girona do not want to pay any transfer fee
As has been reported already, Girona would be open to re-signing Oriol Romeu from Barcelona this summer.
But, according to report from Catalunya Radio, Michel’s team do not wish to pay any transfer fee for the midfielder and would only consider his signing if he is made available for free.

Barcelona and Girona are set to be involved in discussions over multiple players in the coming days.
The Blaugrana are keen on re-signing young striker Pau Victor while Girona are looking to bring back Romeu and Eric Garcia.
While Girona’s interest in Romeu appears to be concrete, the idea is that they will not pay any fee for his signing.
Instead, the Catalan club will consider his signing only if Barcelona give him a letter of freedom and let him leave for no fee, something that the Blaugrana might be unwilling to do.
Either way, Barça are expected to delay Romeu’s exit until late in the transfer window following an injury crisis in the midfield department.
