Newcastle United have missed out on signing Arsenal youth star Amario Cozier-Duberry as Brighton have announced that the attacker has arrived at The Amex.
Newcastle had been tracking the 19-year-old for a number of months after it became clear that his time at Arsenal was coming to an end with his contract expiring in June.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, there were a number of teams in the Premier League and across Europe who had been interested, but the Seagulls have now won the race.
The teenager had previously been likened to Bukayo Saka by Under-18s manager Jack Wilshere and is already being tipped to succeed at Brighton, who have a strong track record at identifying and developing top youth talent.
Newcastle will no doubt be disappointed to miss out on such a bright young talent – especially with the loss of Yankuba Minteh who also joined Brighton – but I’m sure we have plenty of exciting options in mind as we look bring in a proven upgrade on Miguel Almiron.
We’re delighted to confirm the signing of Amario Cozier-Duberry on a contract until 2028! 😁🤝
