Barcelona’s pursuit of new talent has taken an intriguing turn, as reports from SPORT reveal their dual interest in Dani Olmo and Nico Williams. 

While Nico remains their top priority, Olmo has emerged as a compelling alternative, especially if negotiations for Williams falter.

It is no secret that Nico, the dynamic winger from Athletic Club, has captured Barcelona’s attention with his impressive skill set, making him the focal point of their transfer ambitions. 

The club’s determination to adhere to their 1:1 transfer policy underscores their serious intent, with President Joan Laporta publicly expressing their desire to secure Nico, whose release clause stands at €58 million.

Barcelona have not forgotten about Olmo

Amidst these efforts, Olmo has not been overlooked. His standout performances during the European Championship have positioned him as a viable ‘Plan B’. 

Barcelona’s sports department, observing the tournament, has been impressed by Olmo’s contributions, elevating him above competitors like Liverpool’s Luis Diaz in their contingency plans.

Should their pursuit of Nico prove unsuccessful, Barcelona may pivot towards Olmo, potentially negotiating a more affordable deal given his recent showcase on the international stage.

Interestingly, the player himself is reportedly keen on a return to Barcelona, although his immediate focus remains on Spain’s upcoming Euro final against England.
