Barcelona’s 2021 Golden Boy Pedri has been dealt an unlucky hand in recent years, with injuries consistently befalling him.
Ending the season for Barcelona on a high note and shining with Spain in the Euros, it appeared he was finally looking to start afresh and ready to put his woes behind him.
However, a tackle by Toni Kroos in Spain’s quarter-final clash against Germany saw the Canary Islander sidelined once again.
Pedri opens up about recent injury mare
Now, speaking to the media following his lateral sprain, Pedri has touched upon the cruel and unavoidable aspect of football.
“In football, injuries and accidents like these happen often. It’s a fast game, so when I fall and feel something wrong with my knee, it’s not surprising. These things happen in football,” he remarked.
Pedri expressed his eagerness to continue supporting his team from the bench immediately after being substituted. Despite his determination, the team insisted he head to the tunnel for a check-up.
“When the injury happened, I wanted to stay on the bench, but they told me to go to the tunnel to see how I was doing and to do some tests with the doctor.I didn’t want to go because I wanted to support my team,” he conveyed.

The unfortunate blow was a painful reminder to fans of the fragility that has marked Pedri’s promising career.
Pedri stated that the initial aftermath is always the worst, but one must try to search for positives during such a difficult time.
“The first days of the injury were the worst, when you can barely walk, you feel a lot of pain, and you think about a lot of things like why this always happens to you.
“It was a strong blow on my leg and not much can be done to improve it, but you always try to look for the positive side that will help you improve,” he claimed.
