Newcastle United target and England youth international Baylee Dipepa has signed a new three-year deal at Port Vale.
As we revealed in May, the club were competing with Man Utd and a number of Bundesliga clubs for the 17-year-old striker, who we were hoping to sign before any extension was agreed to ultimately protect his value.
However, Dipepa has now signed a new contract with Port Vale, seeing the League Two side protect the player’s value ahead of any future move following his breakthrough season and widespread Premier League interest.
The young forward is represented by the same agent who looks after Michael Mills – the highly-rated winger Newcastle signed from Port Vale last summer – and has been watched closely by Toon scouts, who have attended a number of England Youth games to track his impressive development.
It was hoped Dipepa would become the latest emerging talent to join our growing Academy, where he had the opportunity to join fellow England U17 teammates Trevan Sanusi and Leo Shahar, but it seems he’s likely to remain in the EFL, for now at least.
One to keep an eye on over the coming years and a deal we could revisit if the finances make sense, especially if he continues to progress at senior level with Port Vale and in England’s youth setup.
