Newcastle United have landed in Germany for a pre-season training camp at Adidas’ HQ in Herzogenaurach and it looks like some important transfer discussions will be taking place away from the field.
As revealed by Mark Douglas at the i, the club are committed to a “substantial” recruitment drive over the final six weeks of the transfer window and will hold key recruitment meetings in Germany this week.
He reports that Howe retains has full support from our owners, who are preparing to fund moves for a new right-winger and right-sided centre-back over the coming weeks, with a striker also wanted.
Paul Mitchell has also joined the squad and coaching staff in Germany and will play a key role in recruitment talks, with his arrival opening up the possibility of tapping into the French and German market; two areas he knows very well following his spells at Monaco and RB Leipzig and markets that have been ‘looked at extensively.’
The Athletic have shared similar information this morning, with Mitchell expected to meet Howe and the recruitment team to discuss priority targets in key positions as Newcastle prepare to make key moves over the coming weeks.
