Eddie Howe is eager to see Newcastle United two more signings before the end of the month, according to The Athletic.
In Chris Waugh’s latest piece on the Toon transfer front, the North-East reporter reveals that Howe is eager for reinforcements to ‘arrive quickly’, with the Newcastle boss always eager to give new signings time to meet the squad and bed into their new surroundings well ahead of the new season.
The Athletic believe Howe would ideally like two more additions before the squad jet out to Japan on Sunday 28th July, with transfer discussions expected to ‘ramp up’ over the coming week.
New sporting director Paul Mitchell has travelled to Germany for our week-long training camp and is expected to hold recruitment meetings, with the club eager to bring in a quality right-winger and right-sided centre-back.
It’s believed that Michael Olise was a leading target, but we have ‘multiple options’ for each position we plan to strengthen and have already identified alternatives after the £50m winger joined Bayern Munich instead.
With a week in Germany set to be followed by a pre-season clash with Hull next Saturday – the day before we fly to Japan for two friendlies in the J. League Series – let’s hope we see a breakthrough soon.
