La Liga rivals want Barcelona starlet on loan, could enter operation for midfield target

Mika Faye celebrated his 20th birthday recently and is hoping to make an impression on Barcelona manager Hansi Flick, with the view of earning a first-team spot for next season.

It has been suggested that the Senegalese defender has managed to catch the attention of the German tactician in pre-season thus far.

Despite that, though, Faye’s future at Barça is far from secure and an exit remains a distinct possibility this summer.

Real Sociedad want Mika Faye

Now, Mas que Pelotas reports that La Liga club Real Sociedad are very interested in signing Mika Faye on loan from Barcelona this summer.

The Basque outfit are poised to bid goodbye to Robin Le Normand this summer, who is attracting strong interest from Atletico Madrid, among other clubs.

As such, Imanol Alguacil’s side are scouring the market for a new centre-back and see Faye as a possible option this summer.

The idea would be to sign the 20-year-old Senegalese international on a loan deal.

Earlier today, it was claimed that Barcelona might offer a player as part of the operation to sign Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.

Now, with La Real expressing an interest in signing Faye, there may be a possibility that the 20-year-old defensive gem enters the negotiations in the Merino operation.

Barcelona see Merino as a key target to reinforce the central midfield zone. And with there being plenty of options in the centre-back department, sacrificing Faye might be an option.

The logistics of the operation would need to be negotiated but the possibility is on the table considering the shared interests of the two teams.
