At this point, every penny that flows into the coffers of Barcelona is worth its weight in gold. The Catalans, thus, have their attention not only on potential sales this summer but even other external sources of revenue.
One such revenue stream that is no longer linked to Catalonia is the future of Jean Clair-Todibo. Once a promising defender in Barcelona, the Frenchman could not succeed at the Catalan capital but has only grown since his transfer to Nice.
With the club maintaining 20% of the player’s rights, it is thus significant for Joan Laporta and Co. that the defender is on the verge of a big transfer.
Two clubs in the race
As revealed in a recent update by SPORT, Juventus and West Ham are both in negotiations with Nice over the defender’s transfer. Both clubs, however, are in starkly different positions.
West Ham have an agreement with Nice as they are willing to meet the club’s €35 million price tag but lack an agreement with the player.

After all, Todibo prefers a move to Juventus who are hoping to reduce the fee involved by including players in the equation.
The French club, as it stands, are stubborn on their €35 million price tag and will not accept anything lower. Under such circumstances, the Catalans can hope to net at least €7 million from the operation.
Payment delayed
Another significant development reported by the outlet is that the payment of 20% of the transfer fee will not be made this summer even if Todibo’s transfer goes through.
The sum is due one year after the transfer is made official, and thus, will arrive only in July 2025 should Nice sell Todibo in the coming weeks.
Barcelona, thus, cannot count on the aforementioned remuneration when calculating their wage bill or spending power for the ongoing transfer window.
