Barcelona in talks with Dani Olmo

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have stepped up their interest in bringing Dani Olmo back to the club from RB Leipzig. To that end, they’re believed to have submitted a proposal of a six-year contract for the representatives of the Spain international to consider.

Olmo joined Barcelona’s famous academy in 2007, when he was just nine years old. Seven years later, he went to Croatia and played for the ‘B’ side of Dinamo Zagreb, where he earned first-team promotion. Leipzig paid close to €30 million to sign him from Dinamo in January 2020, and since then, he’s made a total of 148 appearances for the Bundesliga side in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and producing 34 assists.

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder shone at the recently finished Euros, playing a major role as Spain lifted the trophy. His exploits there have understandably generated plenty of interest in his services, and though there have been rumours of him being close to joining Manchester City, no advanced talks have been held, either with the Premier League champions, or any other club.

The race is obviously open, and it seems Barcelona are trying to get to the head of the queue.
