Eddie Howe – “Everyone should be very excited about what is ahead for Newcastle”

In amongst comments on his future at the club following England links, Eddie Howe has been discussing PIF, his relationship with our Saudi-backed owners and the new dynamic facing his squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.

As revealed by Mark Douglas at the i, Howe insists he has been in contact with PIF and enjoys a good relationship with them, stressing that “everyone should be very excited about what is ahead for Newcastle” as they plan to do some “amazing things” for the football club.

“Of course I’ve spoken to PIF and will continue to speak to them. The relationship is good,” Howe said when asked about our majority owners.

“Since they’ve been here and I want to make this clear, they’ve done some amazing things for the football club and I think they are absolutely going to do some amazing things for the football club in the future. Everyone should be very excited about what is ahead for Newcastle.”

Howe also discussed the new dynamic heading into the 2024/25 season with no Europe to contend with and reaffirmed his wish to bring silverware to St James’ Park:

“When I came here we wanted to win a trophy. It is burning inside me and it is a target. Europe is a target after the last two years. I would love to experience more European nights here. No Europe means the workload is lighter next season but the expectation rises.

“With [Europe] came a cost in our training ground work. We go week to week now which gives me more of chance to coach. It is what I enjoy most. I look at it with a glass half full.”
