Exclusive – Barcelona deal for €30 million-rated forward ‘very difficult’

Joao Felix arrived at FC Barcelona from Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal on the transfer deadline day last summer.

The move was heralded as some sort of a coup, with expectations that the 24-year-old forward might finally live up to his immense quality and potential.

However, during his stay at the club, Barça fans only got fleeting glimpses of the ability that once made Joao Felix one of the most in-demand attackers in Europe.

Despite that, club president Joan Laporta and director Deco publicly insisted that they intend to re-sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid again this summer.

Deal no longer possible

However, according to exclusive information provided by journalist Adrian Sanchez to Barça Universal, a deal for Joao Felix to return to Barcelona is starting to appear very difficult.

Indeed, with Barcelona working to sign Nico Williams as well as Dani Olmo this summer, the 24-year-old Portuguese international is no longer a priority and has seemingly missed the train as far as a return is concerned.

After all, Barça cannot afford overbooking in the attacking unit and already have plenty of options in the squad. Furthermore, negotiations with Atletico Madrid have also proved quite challenging.

As such, a return to Barcelona for Joao Felix looks extremely difficult at this point now. However, given the influence of superagent Jorge Mendes, nothing can be ruled out yet.

It must, however, be noted that the attacker is courting strong interest from his previous club, SL Benfica.

More recently, Aston Villa have also expressed an interest in securing the services of the Portuguese international.
