The biggest hint yet Bruno Guimaraes is staying at Newcastle?

If there’s one man who knows what’s going on with Bruno Guimaraes, it could well be his Brazilian teammate and best mate Joelinton.

Seeing Bruno’s £100m release clause expire last month without being activated was a relief and big Joe’s latest comments are equally encouraging on our midfield maestro.

Speaking to The Athletic on a day that marks five years since he sealed a £40m move from Hoffenheim, Joelinton said:

“I think Bruno’s going to stay. He tells me he’s going to come back next week and get ready for the season. I know him, he loves the club.

“He loves the fans, he enjoys his life in Newcastle. I think he’s glad to be there for his life, as well as for football. Newcastle and the club want him to be happy and stay for many years.”

There’s never any guarantees in football, but Joelinton was the best man at his wedding. He’ll know more than most about what Bruno is REALLY thinking and his comments here are really encouraging on a week that’s featured fresh links with Man City.

With Bruno staying, Joelinton signing a new deal earlier this year and Anthony Gordon due back soon after an extended break, hopefully we can build on this by making some much-needed moves in the transfer market.
