In a major update, Jose Alvarez of El Chiringuito TV reports that Barcelona have reached a full and total agreement with the agent of Nico Williams over a long-term contract.
Now, all that remains is for the player to give the final go-ahead following which the club can trigger his €58 million release clause at Athletic Club.
Agreement over a five-year contract
Last week, Barcelona director Deco met with Nico’s agent, Felix Tainta, and tabled a long-term contract offer believed to be for five years for the 22-year-old.
Now, it is being claimed that an agreement has been reached with the Spanish international’s agent over the said five-year contract, with increasing wages.
As such, negotiations with the player’s agent are now at an end and all that remains is for the winger himself to give his approval on the agreement.

As soon the Catalans receive the final OK from Nico, they intend to pay his €58 million release clause and secure his services from Athletic Club.
There have been concerns about whether Barcelona can register Williams with La Liga, but there is optimism regarding the same, with both Joan Laporta and Javier Tebas previously admitting that the club would be in a position to sign the 22-year-old.
So, now, Barcelona will wait for Nico to give his seal of approval on the contract that his agent has agreed upon before they can go ahead and activate his release clause and close his signing.
