Along with selling Academy-developed Geordie Elliot Anderson before the PSR deadline last month, Newcastle United also cashed in on Yankuba Minteh to avoid a breach and points deduction.
The Gambian showed what an exciting talent he was at Feyenoord, scoring 11 goals and featuring in the Champions League. Many hoped to see him in a black and white shirt this summer, but instead he’s sealed a £33m move to Brighton; where he’s not taken long to impress.
Appearing in his first game for the Seagulls today, the 19-year-old scored 15 minutes into his Brighton debut to give his new club a 1-0 lead against Kashima Antlers in their tour of Japan Japan Tour 2024. Watch the goal below:

Looking at the reaction on social media from Brighton fans, they’re already loving what they’ve seen, praising his pace, work rate and calm finish after he cut in from the right, sat down defenders and slotted home calmly on his first appearance for the club.
Sales were needed to avoid a points deduction, but it feels like this one is going to hurt…
