As reported earlier today, Sergi Roberto already has a contract agreement in place with Barcelona although it has not yet been signed and made official due to the club’s Financial Fair Play issues.
The 32-year-old has accepted the terms offered by the Blaugrana after his previous contract expired on June 30 and is waiting for the club to resolve their economic problems before he can sign the new deal and be registered.
While Barça are understood to still count on Roberto, there is still no guarantee that the contract extension will actually go through and as such there is a possibility that he does not re-sign.

Mikel Arteta & co. are on the lookout for reinforcements in midfield and have been linked with Roberto in the past. Now, it is claimed that the Gunners have made enquiries for the 32-year-old former Barcelona captain.
Not only Arsenal, but Roberto is understood to be attracting plenty of interest from other clubs in the Premier League.
Despite that, the La Masia graduate is willing to wait for Barcelona and see whether they can resolve their financial situation and register his new contract.
Roberto is currently not training with Barça, with the club asking him not to join the pre-season camp, and as such, he has been working by himself with a personal trainer so that he can be ready when he receives the call, either from the Catalans or a different club.
Even though the Spaniard is waiting, it is unlikely that he will remain patient for much longer and if Barcelona fail to resolve the situation, a move to the Premier League is not ruled out.
