Hull vs Newcastle – Preview, early team news, pre-season so far and how to watch

Newcastle United travel to the MKM Stadium to face the Tigers at 2pm on Saturday. The hosts begin the season in just two weeks time so will be looking to play a decent squad in preparation for their opener against Bristol City.

As for Newcastle, they have just returned from their training camp in Germany – which ended with a 3-1 win over SpVgg Unterhaching – and will travel to Japan on Sunday for two friendlies in preparation for the season.

On the injury front, Joe Willock is still working his way back from a long term Achilles issue but will hopefully feature. It also remains to be seen if Lloyd Kelly, Sean Longstaff or Tino Livramento will feature after they too are managing slight concerns, but it would be great to see our new signing play his first game in front of a 4,500 strong Toon Army.

It remains to be seen if Fabian Schar or Miguel Almiron will feature after both returned to Tyneside on Friday following extended breaks, but the game will definitely come too soon for Bruno Guimaraes, Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier.

The Magpies will also be without Lewis Miley (broken foot) and Callum Wilson (back) who are confirmed to be out injured and they will both likely miss all of pre-season.  Finally, Sandro Tonali is still serving his ban from the FA, so despite playing a behind closed doors friendly against Burnley, he too will miss the trip to Hull.

Hull – who finished 7th in the Championship last season – have lost their last two pre season fixtures against Fenerbache and Doncaster both my a margin of four goals, conceding nine goals in total. Newcastle have played two fixtures so far,  winning 3-1 against SpVgg Unterhaching thanks to goals from Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak before a behind-closed doors clash at Burnley (score line is yet to go public).

Newcastle have made four signings so far this summer, Lloyd Kelly, John Ruddy, Odysseas Vlachodimos and Lewis Hall. Despite these new additions, many Newcastle fans remain…
