Player pictured at airport by Newcastle fan – Summer exit in the offing?

A photo has emerged of Kieran Trippier about to board a flight from Newcastle airport today, fuelling reports that he’s on his way out this summer.

Toon fan Mark Oxley spotted the right-back at the airport around 11am this morning (see picture below) and claims that the 33-year-old was about to jump on a flight to Dubai.

The true reason for his departure is not clear, but this comes after a number of suggestions he could be heading for the exit door. The Telegraph revealed that it’s ‘increasingly certain’ he leaves this summer just a few days ago and it was rumoured yesterday that the England international had received an offer from an unnamed club in Saudi Arabia.

Trippier did take part in Euro 2024 and was involved all the way up until the final – a 2-1 defeat to Spain – but we’ve seen fellow internationals Fabian Schar and Miguel Almiron report back for duty today, with Bruno Guimaraes expected to link up with the squad when we fly out to Japan on Sunday.

If Trippier is boarding a flight to the Middle East just as others are arriving back, it does make you wonder…
