Howe confirms plan for 6 players, reacts to 2-0 win at Hull and recruitment meetings

Eddie Howe has confirmed that Bruno Guimaraes, Fabian Schar, Miguel Almiron and Martin Dubravka will join the squad in Japan ahead of tomorrow’s flight. 

Speaking after today’s 2-0 win at Hull City, the boss also revealed that Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon will be back the following week, with the pair handed an extended break after England’s run to the Euro 2024 final.

Discussing the pre-season victory at the MKM – which featured goals for Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy – Howe felt it was a good test against a team “slightly ahead of us physically” and felt we performed particularly well in the first 45 before a raft of changes in the second half.

“I think it was a good game, a tough game for us,” Howe said. “I think they are slightly ahead of us physically and a very different team tactically to most you see – a lot of interesting things from them.

“It took us probably 10 minutes to get to grips with it even though we knew what to expect. I thought first-half we played very well. Second-half was difficult to judge, it was very bitty with all the changes.”

Asked about our wait for signings and working with new sporting director Paul Mitchell, he added “it’s not about the final say but collaboration”, also admitting that PSR has “definitely” been a frustrating part of a slow summer window so far.
