Griffin Yow has made a positive impression during his short time in Belgium which has led to the continued interest from one of the league’s giants.
Anderlecht is continuing its chase of Yow for a potential summer move, sources confirmed to SBI. The 21-year-old is currently with the U.S. Men’s Olympic team in Paris, France as part of this summer’s games.
A former DC United academy player, Yow made the move to Belgian side Westerlo in 2022. He made five appearances during the 2022-23 campaign before enjoying a breakout season in 2023-24.
Yow scored seven goals and added seven assists in 29 combined appearances for Westerlo, teaming up with fellow American, Bryan Reynolds.
A former U.S. Under-17 men’s national team standout, Yow has made three appearances for the U-23’s as he seeks his senior debut.
Anderlecht finished third in the Belgian Pro League Playoffs last season, earning a spot in the 2024-25 UEFA Europa League qualifiers. There are several familiar European players Brian Riemer’s squad including Jan Vertonghen, Thorgan Hazard, and Kasper Dolberg.
Westerlo finished just outside of the relegation playoffs last season and opens their competitive schedule this weekend.
