West Ham have been busy in the transfer market this summer, but as of this moment, it’s fair to say that they’ve not been particularly successful.
So far, they’ve either been turned down by or can’t afford Jean-Clair Todibo, N’Golo Kante, Noussair Mazraoui and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, whilst a move for Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran still isn’t close to getting over the line.
Technical director, Tim Steidten, can’t be blamed at this point, given that it seems he’s really been putting the work in to get certain deals to the next stage.
Youssouf Fofana gives West Ham his answer
If players or their agents are still turning their noses up, then the Hammers are arguably better off without those players anyway.
That doesn’t help Julen Lopetegui, however.
The Spaniard needs a much stronger squad than he currently has, but as each week passes, there’s a smaller and smaller window of opportunity for the Irons to deliver what Lopetegui needs to ensure his team is competitive.
West Ham target Youssouf Fofana (R) fights for the ball with Montpellier’s Mousa Al-Tamari
AS Monaco’s brilliant midfielder, Youssouf Fofana, has apparently been watched by the Hammers for over a year, and there were rumours that he could be about to plug a significant gap for West Ham.
However, according to Give Me Sport sources, the player prefers a move to AC Milan, and has even made the Serie A giants aware of his availability.
It’s another dagger in the ambitions of the East Londoners who clearly can’t shake their reputation of past years – a European dalliance over the past few seasons notwithstanding.
