Eddie Howe has named his side to face 2022 AFC Champions League winners Urawa Red Diamonds at the 63,700-capacity Saitama Stadium in today’s 11.30am kick-off in Japan.
NUFC XI: Pope – Livramento, Krafth, Burn, Hall – Longstaff, Joelinton, Willock – Murphy, Isak, Barnes.
SUBS: Vlachodimos, Ruddy, Almiron, J.Miley, Turner-Cooke, Heffernan, Parkinson, Harrison, Sanusi.
It’s great to see Joe Willock appear for the first time in pre-season after he missed our 3-1 win in Germany and 2-0 victory at Hull last weekend.
Lewis Hall moves back into a left-back role after playing in midfield at Hull and Sean Longstaff is also fit to start after he was left on Tyneside to train last weekend.
Miguel Almiron returns to the bench, but the game comes just too soon for Fabian Schar, Bruno Guimaraes, Martin Dubravka an Lloyd Kelly. Anthony Gordon and Kieran Trippier are yet to report back from extended breaks, Sandro Tonali is ineligible and Gillespie, Botman (ACL), Lascelles (ACL), Targett (Achilles), Ashby, A. Murphy (hip), L. Miley (broken foot), White (back), Kuol (knee) Wilson (back) are missing.
